How To Brew Your Own Beer

Brewing beer is a centuries-old art that can be a fun and rewarding hobby. It’s also a great way to impress your friends at your next get-together. The following is a simple guide on how to make your own beer.

Ingredients:

1) Beer kit

2) 2 gallons of water

3) 8-10 pounds of malt extract

4) Hops

5) Yeast

6) Priming sugar (optional)

Equipment:

1) Large boiling pot

2) Fermenting bin

3) Airlock and stopper

4) Thermometer

5) Hydrometer (optional)

6) Bottles and capper

7) Funnel

8) Sanitizer

Instructions:

1.Sanitize all of your equipment. This is the most important step in making beer, as it will prevent contamination.

2.Boil the 2 gallons of water in a large pot.

3.Add the malt extract and hops, and stir until dissolved.

4.Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about an hour.

5.Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

6.Pour the mixture into a fermenting bin, and add cold water to bring the total volume up to 5 gallons.

7.Add the yeast, and stir well.

8.Cover the bin and attach the airlock.

9.Let the beer ferment for about two weeks.

10.After two weeks, take a hydrometer reading to determine the alcohol content (optional).

11.If you wish, add priming sugar at this point. This will help the beer to carbonate.

12.Bottle the beer, and let it age for another week or two.

13.Enjoy!

Cheers!
